DROITWICH SPA TOWN PLAN STEERING GROUP.

The creation of Town Plans are a means of giving local people a structure within which to give advice to the local authority (Wychavon District Council) as to the future direction of development of their area.
If adopted by the local authority the resulting document becomes a ‘source of local information’ to which the authority will refer when proposals for development and/or services are being considered for that area.

The Droitwich Spa Town Plan group was facilitated by the Town Council. If the District Council agree it will pass to the Local Strategic Partnership Committee for endorsement.

The steering group was set up following and open invitation, placed in the local press, to attend an inaugural meeting.   Subsequently the Steering Group elected a chairman, secretary and treasurer plus five other people to form an executive.  It also set up a number of sub-groups, to carry out in depth studies, prior to making presentation to the whole group.

There was a public exhibition in October 2008 to ascertain the views of residents before compiling the first full report.

Membership of the Steering Group is open to any resident who wishes to take an active part in the work of the committee and its sub-groups. Other regular attendees can ask to have notice of agendas.

Any resident is welcome to meetings of the Steering Group. Notice is usually reported by the local press but dates, times and venue, can always be obtained from the Town Council.  Minutes of the meetings are available to view at the Town Council Offices in St.Richard's House, Victoria Square, Droitwich Spa.
